Belarusian biathlon team faces uncertainty amid competition ban

The Belarusian national biathlon team is facing significant uncertainty as it enters its fifth season without access to international competitions. Head coach Oleg Ryzhenkov has noted that maintaining athlete motivation is becoming increasingly difficult each year. He highlighted that the situation is particularly challenging for female athletes, some of whom are balancing their careers with family life and children.

Despite the ongoing exclusion, Ryzhenkov expressed hope for a positive change in the country's international standing, suggesting that the necessary conditions for a favorable outcome exist, though resolution may not be immediate. To manage a heavy training schedule, the team has opted not to participate in summer competitions organized jointly with Russian athletes.

The coaching staff has recently been bolstered by the addition of Yuri Kaminsky, who is working with the women's team, and Reinhard Goesweiner, who is overseeing the men's team. Ryzhenkov noted that the expertise and enthusiasm brought by the new coaches have already begun to improve results and boost morale within the squad.
