Belarusian KGB allegedly recruiting in Poland via Telegram
Reports indicate that the Belarusian KGB has launched a new recruitment mechanism targeting Belarusians living in Poland and Lithuania. According to investigations by the portal Nasza Niwa, the process begins with low-stakes tasks conducted via Telegram bots to test the obedience and availability of potential recruits.
Initial tasks involve printing and distributing between 10 and 100 leaflets in cities such as Warsaw and Poznan, with a payment of 1 euro per leaflet. These leaflets, which feature the Polish coat of arms and Warsaw skylines, provide instructions on how to behave during a hypothetical occupation. Once a recruit completes these initial tasks, they are allegedly offered more serious assignments, such as photographing specific locations, with payments ranging from 150 to 1,400 euros.
Payments are reportedly processed through bank transfers or services like Wise, which may allow intelligence services to collect personal data for potential future blackmail or pressure. Experts suggest this method serves as a way to gradually escalate tasks from seemingly harmless activities to more offensive intelligence gathering.
