Belchior biopic ‘Viver é Melhor que Sonhar’ set for 2026 release

A biopic titled ‘Viver é Melhor que Sonhar’, directed by Eduardo Albergaria, is scheduled for theatrical release on December 3, 2026. The film focuses on the most enigmatic period of the life of Brazilian singer-songwriter Belchior (1946–2017), specifically the years following his peak fame when he abandoned his established identity and assets to travel across Latin America with his partner, Edna.

Filmed in Brazil and Uruguay, the road movie depicts the couple navigating legal challenges and frozen bank accounts while finding refuge through the solidarity of fans. The production, led by Urca Filmes, is based on extensive research, including interviews and the book ‘Belchior: Apenas um rapaz latino-americano’. The film stars Luiz Carlos Vasconcelos as Belchior and Isabela Garcia as Edna.

In addition to the film, Vannick Belchior, the artist's youngest daughter, is performing a tribute show titled ‘Meu Nome é Cem’ in Campinas to honor her father's 80th birth anniversary. The show features classic repertoire such as ‘Como Nossos Pais’ and ‘Apenas um Rapaz Latino-Americano’.
