Belchior miniseries ‘Alucinação’ explores singer's life and self-exile

The miniseries ‘Alucinação’ has begun screenings at Cinema do Dragão in Fortaleza, Brazil, as part of the ‘Rememorações’ program celebrating the venue's 13th anniversary. The four-episode production, directed by Eduardo Albergaria and written by Albergaria and Daniel Dias, explores the life and career of the renowned singer, composer, and poet Belchior.

Based on the book ‘Belchior: Apenas um Rapaz Latino-Americano’ by journalist Jotabê Medeiros, the series examines Belchior's rise to national prominence and his eventual decision to break away from the music industry and public life. The production delves into the artist's period of self-imposed exile, a move the director describes as an investigation into the artist's search for essence and freedom.

The series features actors Caian Zattar, Luiz Carlos Vasconcelos, and Márcio Levi, who portray Belchior at different stages of his life. The production was a collaboration between Gavulino Filmes and Urca Filmes.
