Belfast Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann attracts over one million visitors

The Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, the world's largest celebration of Irish music and culture, is approaching its conclusion in Belfast. This year marked the first time the city hosted the event, which is expected to be the largest in the festival's history.

Visitor numbers have reached significant milestones, with organizers expecting to surpass one million attendees by the end of the festival. Economy Minister Caoimhe Archibald stated that the event is projected to provide an economic boost of over £53 million to the city. Martina Connolly, CEO of Belfast One Business Improvement District, noted that footfall cameras recorded over 900,000 visitors in the city centre alone by Thursday.

The week-long event featured more than 200 activities, including competitions, concerts, workshops, and street performances. Final festivities include performances at Belfast City Hall and exhibitions at the Seamus Heaney centre at Queen's University Belfast.
