Belford Roxo implements educational and health initiatives

Municipal schools Waldemiro José Pereira and Heliópolis in Belford Roxo have implemented the 'Sala Lilás' (Lilac Room) program. This initiative, led by the Court of Justice of the State of Rio de Janeiro (TJRJ), focuses on preventing gender violence, racism, and discrimination within the school environment.

Through educational lectures and discussions involving judges and social workers, students from the 6th to 9th grades are being taught to identify domestic and gender-based violence, understand the Maria da Penha Law, and recognize psychological and patrimonial abuse. The program also emphasizes the importance of using official channels for assistance.

In a separate health initiative, the Belford Roxo City Hall is conducting a meningitis vaccination campaign at Heliópolis Square. The campaign targets adolescents and young adults aged 11 to 24 to increase coverage of the meningococcal ACWY vaccine. Vaccination is free of charge, provided participants present their immunization records for evaluation.
