Belfort construction worker seriously injured by disc cutter
In France, the construction sector (BTP) continues to account for a large share of workplace accidents. Workers and employers must act quickly after an accident to secure health coverage, indemnities and legal protection under French labor law.
On 27 July in the Glacis industrial area of Belfort, a 26‑year‑old public‑works employee suffered a severe cut to his jugular when a defective disc cutter detached and struck his throat while repairing a water pipe. He lost a large amount of blood, was treated by the Samu and air‑lifted to the hospital in Trévenans. Medical staff say his vital prognosis is not compromised, but the injury required intensive emergency care.
