Belgian clubs prepare for European football amid Union injury crisis

A major week of European football is approaching, featuring Belgian clubs across the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League. On Thursday, four Belgian teams are scheduled for action: Union Saint-Gilloise and Anderlecht in the Europa League, and AA Gent and STVV in the Conference League.

Union Saint-Gilloise faces significant challenges ahead of their Europa League match against Spanish side Real Sociedad. Manager David Hubert is facing a severe injury and availability crisis, with reports indicating as many as eleven players may be unavailable. Due to a combination of injuries, suspensions, and squad registration limitations, the club could be left with as few as thirteen available first-team players for the fixture.
