Belgian couples celebrate 50th wedding anniversaries

Two couples in Belgium are celebrating their golden wedding anniversaries, marking 50 years of marriage.

In Sint-Pieters-Leeuw, Marie-Jeanne George and Arthur De Groote celebrated their 50th anniversary. The couple met on a train platform in Ruisbroek and married on September 18, 1976. Arthur had a career in accounting and taxation at KBC, while Marie-Jeanne worked as a secretary for Piano’s Van Der Elst and Crédit Général.

In Brakel, Guy Manssens and Martine De Wolf also marked their 50th anniversary. Married on September 17, 1976, the couple famously arrived at their wedding on horseback. Guy has worked as a dental technician for over 53 years, and Martine has worked as an insurance broker.
