Belgian cyclists Tom Boonen and Wout van Aert share career updates

Former cycling world champion Tom Boonen has transitioned into rally racing following his professional cycling career. Boonen, who has been fascinated by motorsports since childhood, noted that he finds competitive cycling to be more dangerous than rally driving. He began competing in car races at Spa-Francorchamps shortly after his final cycling event before finding a specific passion for the technical aspects of rally racing.

Meanwhile, professional cyclist Wout van Aert has expressed his intention to participate in cyclocross races this winter. During a session on the virtual training platform ROUVY, van Aert stated that he is looking forward to returning to the field, though he has not yet confirmed the specific timing of his first race. His discussions also touched upon long-term goals for 2027, including the Tour of Flanders.
