Belgian drivers fined for extreme speeding on E17 and A75 highways

A café owner from Nazareth‑De Pinte was caught traveling 170 km/h on Belgium’s E17 during the busy 10 Miles running event in Ghent. The court imposed a €530 fine and a one‑month driving ban after the driver admitted the speed was unsafe and offered no mitigating circumstances.

A separate incident involved a Belgian‑registered Mercedes‑AMG CLA 35 that was stopped by gendarmes on France’s A75 near Antrenas, traveling 217 km/h in a 130 km/h zone. The driver was fined €1 500, and the vehicle was impounded.

Both cases highlight strict enforcement of speed limits on major European highways and the penalties applied to drivers exceeding them.
