Belgian household fund investments reach 373 billion euros

Belgian households have increased their investments in investment funds by 11 percent, reaching a total value of 373.1 billion euros. According to data from the National Bank of Belgium, this growth of 38.4 billion euros compared to the end of March was primarily driven by a 33.3 billion euro rise in asset valuations, supplemented by 5.1 billion euros in new capital contributions.

Investors have shifted their strategies, moving away from equity funds in favor of bond and mixed funds. Of the total portfolio, 170.7 billion euros is invested in funds based in Belgium, while the remainder is held in foreign funds.

Regarding funds issued specifically in Belgium, the total market value reached 311.9 billion euros at the end of the second quarter. This represents a quarterly increase of 30.2 billion euros, driven entirely by valuation increases of 32 billion euros, which offset a net disinvestment of 1.8 billion euros.
