Belgian international midfielder Orel Mangala, 28, has been sent on a season‑long loan from Olympique Lyon to La Liga club Getafe CF, with no option to buy. The move gives Getafe a physically strong midfield option to replace the injured Christian Sus Uche, as coach José Bordalás seeks experienced players for the upcoming Conference League campaign.

Mangala’s career includes spells at Borussia Dortmund’s youth system, Stuttgart, Nottingham Forest and Lyon, where he made 14 appearances last season. The loan also helps Lyon reduce its wage bill, as the Belgian’s salary and the €30 million investment in his transfer had become a financial burden.

Getafe announced the signing officially, welcoming Mangala and wishing him success in Spain.
