Belgian municipalities seek community volunteers
Municipalities in Belgium are calling for volunteers to support local community and educational initiatives.
In Bertem, the primary school GBS ’t Zonneveld is seeking volunteers for midday supervision. Tasks include monitoring the playground, preventing disputes, assisting in the dining hall, and engaging with children to ensure a safe and calm atmosphere. Volunteers are required to provide a clean criminal record extract and can choose their availability between September and June.
In Mol, several initiatives are seeking volunteers to assist with Dutch language practice for various age groups. Programs include 'Babbelkousje aan huis', which focuses on home-based language practice for children through play; 'Babbelkousje na school', which provides homework and reading support for primary students; and 'Moeder-Taal', where volunteers provide childcare for mothers attending Dutch lessons. Additionally, the 'Praatpunt' initiative offers informal conversation groups for adults to improve their language skills.
