Belgian police cleared to use TikTok for youth outreach

Belgium's interior minister Bernard Quintin has introduced a regulatory framework that permits police stations to use the social‑media platform TikTok to communicate with the public, especially young people. The policy aims to spread messages on cybercrime, internet safety, drug use, traffic safety and other risks. Officers must operate TikTok on dedicated, isolated devices that are completely separate from internal police networks, and they are prohibited from posting operational details, personal data or any sensitive police information.

The change follows similar initiatives in neighboring countries such as the Netherlands and Germany, where police forces already use TikTok to engage younger audiences and raise awareness on safety issues.
