Belgian police revoke ten licences after large DUI crackdown

A 35‑year‑old woman in Kortrijk was stopped after swerving at 3:50 a.m. on 5 November. An alcohol test showed a blood‑alcohol level of 1.6 ‰. A court ordered a one‑month driving ban, limited to weekends, and a €1,200 fine.

In the Rivierenland region, police conducted a large‑scale alcohol and drug control that resulted in ten driving licences being withdrawn. Seven licences were revoked for 15 days, three were taken for three hours, and additional offences such as cannabis use, seat‑belt violations, and a heavily overloaded trailer were recorded. One driver of a Polish‑registered truck, an Ukrainian national, tested positive at 0.97 ‰ and also faced a licence seizure and a €420 fine.
