Belgian Shepherd Dog Bites 7-Year-Old in Bolu, Turkey

On 19 July, a 7‑year‑old boy in the Aktaş neighbourhood of Bolu, Turkey, was attacked by a Belgian shepherd owned by a neighbour. The dog seized the child’s hip as he exited his apartment elevator, prompting nearby residents to intervene and pull the dog away. The child was taken to hospital, where his hip was stitched.

The boy’s mother, Sibel Karagöz, filed a police complaint, alleging that the dog’s owner, N. Ö., had repeatedly ignored warnings about the animal’s behaviour. She also claimed she was threatened during a later confrontation. The father, Serhat Pekyaman, described the dog as dangerous and called for its removal from the building. The incident has sparked local concern over stray or unsupervised dogs and the safety of children in the area.
