Belgian towns host inclusive summer fairs and markets
A sensory‑friendly summer fair will be held on Monday 13 July, offering a low‑stimulus environment with music turned off and dimmed lighting. The event targets visitors with heightened sensory sensitivity such as those with autism, epilepsy, high sensitivity, as well as seniors, children, people with disabilities, anxiety disorders or dementia. Organisers have added handicap parking, a guide tent and accessible information maps.
In Duffel, the weekly market will hold a special festive edition on Tuesday 14 July. Visitors can collect lottery tickets with purchases for a chance to win €100 vouchers, enjoy street entertainment and a magician for children, and use a new free shuttle bus that runs between a nearby parking area and the market streets.
Both events emphasize accessibility and community participation, aiming to attract a broad audience while providing convenient transport and facilities.
