Belgian towns reorganize festivals for World Cup quarter‑final matches

The city of Sint‑Truiden will host a live broadcast of the World Cup round of 16 match between Belgium and the United States at Bar West on the Groenmarkt. Mayor Ludwig Vandenhove confirmed extra police presence, including a canine unit, additional security staff, and road closures on the Luikerstraat to manage crowds and noise.

In Leuven, officials adjusted the schedule of the annual Beleuvenissen programme to avoid conflicts with Belgium’s quarter‑final against Spain. Performances by Emmy d'Arc and Jasper Steverlinck were moved earlier, while an extra large screen was installed on the Grote Markt to stream the match. The city aims to disperse spectators across several squares and ensure safe viewing conditions.
