Belgium hosts first university seminar on Critical Approaches to Race
The Critical Approaches to Race (ACR) seminar series for the 2026-27 academic year is being launched in Belgium. This multidisciplinary program is the first university seminar of its kind in the country to focus on critical race theories.
The seminar aims to provide an academic platform for young researchers to present ongoing or completed work. It utilizes a framework that integrates decolonial, postcolonial, and Critical Race Theory to examine racialization and racism across various global and Western contexts.
The series is co-organized by several institutions, including the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) through the LAMC, GERME, REPI, and the Observatory of AIDS and Sexualities, as well as the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) via the Brussels Interdisciplinary Research Centre on Migration and Minorities (BIRMM).
