Belgium municipalities implement local road and mobility updates

Various local infrastructure and mobility initiatives are being implemented across several Belgian municipalities.

In Lede, the reconstruction of Zuster Lambertinestraat has been completed. The project involved replacing a damaged sewage system with a new separated system to prevent road subsidence. The street has also received a new asphalt layer and improved sidewalks to enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility.

Blankenberge is participating in Mobility Week by hosting a car-free afternoon on Kerkstraat. Between 12:30 and 18:00, the street will be closed to vehicles to facilitate sports, play, and community interaction. The event includes activities for children and services such as free bicycle labeling to aid in theft prevention.

In Erpe-Mere, the Beekstraat has been officially inaugurated following months of renovations as part of the Beekstraat-Visser road project. The upgrades aim to improve safety and comfort, though they introduce a new traffic pattern that changes how motorists access the street.
