Belgium prepares for major autumn cultural season and museum openings
Belgium is entering a busy autumn cultural season featuring major museum openings, film festivals, and art exhibitions.
A significant highlight is the opening of Kanal-Centre Pompidou in Brussels on 28 November 2026. This new multidisciplinary museum of modern and contemporary art is a partnership between the Brussels-Capital Region and the Centre Pompidou. The institution will celebrate its launch with a free opening weekend featuring live performances, concerts, and workshops, though visitors must book time slots for the ten inaugural exhibitions.
In the cinematic realm, the 41st Namur International Francophone Film Festival (FIFF) will run from 30 September to 4 October. The festival, themed “the bonds that shape and unite all of us,” will host nearly 50 public screenings.
Other notable events include Brussels Design Week, which features over 100 events and 300 designers, and the Brussels Art Square, where approximately 70 galleries in the Sablon quarter will participate in its 20th anniversary edition. Additionally, an exhibition of Korean traditional painting is being held in Brussels through 13 November.
