Belgium rental assistance programs vary by region
In Belgium, various financial aids and rent allocations are available to tenants facing insufficient income, with specific conditions and amounts that vary by region.
In Wallonia, the ADeL (Allocation de Déménagement et de Loyer) provides support through the Walloon Region's Housing Department. This includes a moving allowance of at least 400 euros and a monthly rent allowance of approximately 100 euros for those leaving unsanitary housing or for homeless individuals. Eligibility is based on resource limits, housing criteria, and beneficiary commitments.
In the Brussels-Capital Region, three main types of aid are offered: a relocation allowance similar to Wallonia's ADeL, rent assistance for tenants on social housing lists who meet specific income requirements, and rent assistance for those awaiting the allocation of social housing. The latter has recently been reformed by Housing Minister Céline Fremault to make access easier, requiring applicants to be on a social housing waiting list with a minimum of 12 priority points.
