Belgium survey: Households seek 5,000-7,000 euros monthly for security
A recent survey indicates that Belgian households require significant monthly income to feel financially secure. Respondents reported needing 5,000 euros per month for households without children and 7,000 euros for families with two children. This requirement is approximately 500 euros lower than figures reported two years ago.
Regarding long-term wealth, Belgians believe they need approximately 1 million euros in accumulated assets to feel secure about the future, though women reported lower expectations, often citing around 750,000 euros.
Financial stress is most prevalent among the 30-49 age demographic, with nearly one-quarter identifying money as a primary source of tension. This group is also the most proactive regarding retirement, with over 46% taking specific actions to secure their future. Geopolitical instability is a major concern for participants, with 31% linking international events to rising inflation and 16% noting a direct impact on their personal income.
