Belgium transport strikes to disrupt flights and public transit

Travelers in Belgium face significant disruptions to public and air transport due to scheduled union actions. Strikes are expected to impact various sectors throughout early October.

At Brussels-Zaventem Airport, approximately 140 flight cancellations have been estimated. Additionally, night actions by air traffic controllers are expected to cause delays or cancellations at Brussels South – Charleroi Airport through October 10.

In the public transport sector, a strike notice has been filed for the period between the night of October 11 and the evening of October 12. This is expected to affect train services operated by SNCB-NMBS and the STIB-MIVB network, which includes metro, tram, and bus services. Potential impacts include service suspensions, station closures, and reduced frequency.
