Belgium's Train World to Host Model Train Exhibition in August 2026
From 18 to 30 August 2026 the Train World museum in Schaerbeek, Brussels, will present a large miniature‑train exhibition. Dozens of model railways built by Belgian hobbyists will showcase reproductions of stations such as Houyet, Hasselt, Oostende and many historic locomotives. Admission is €15 for adults, €11 for youths, with family tickets available, and the museum encourages visitors to travel by train. On the weekend of 29‑30 August a 300‑metre historic NMBS train will also stop at Schaerbeek station as part of the railway’s centenary celebrations.
Earlier, from 6 to 11 July 2026, the heritage railway Stoomtrein Maldegem‑Eeklo, together with infrastructure manager INFRABEL, will run the "Train Mania" youth work‑week for participants aged 14‑22. The program offers hands‑on training, restoration work on historic steam and diesel locomotives, and a chance to operate a diesel train. The week costs €350 and includes camping at a nearby site.
