Russia and Ukraine exchange heavy drone and missile strikes

Russia and Ukraine engaged in intense reciprocal aerial attacks over the weekend, resulting in multiple casualties and significant infrastructure damage in both nations.

In Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Russia launched approximately 1,600 guided aerial bombs, 48 missiles, and nearly 2,300 attack drones over the past week. Strikes hit nine Ukrainian regions, including Dnipropetrovsk, where four people were killed and 22 injured. In Vinnytsia, a drone strike hit a five-story residential building, causing injuries and destroying apartments. Other targets included energy substations, thermal power plants, and logistics hubs in Kharkiv.

In Russia, Ukrainian drone attacks targeted the Belgorod region, causing at least two deaths and 14 injuries. The strikes damaged approximately 30 apartment buildings, 35 vehicles, and several commercial and administrative facilities. In the Bryansk region, a drone strike on an agricultural vehicle killed two people and injured two others. Additionally, an attack in the Oryol region resulted in three deaths following a strike on a facility. Ukrainian forces also targeted industrial sites in Oryol and Samara, including a microelectronics plant and a petrochemical facility, aimed at disrupting Russian military supply chains.
