Belgrade citizens clean Pionirski Park following election results
Hundreds of citizens and municipal workers gathered in Belgrade’s Pionirski Park to participate in a large-scale cleaning operation. The initiative was launched by students following the recent snap elections in Serbia, which resulted in the defeat of Aleksandar Vučić.
The cleaning effort focused on the area known as ‘Kacyland,’ which had been occupied by tents supporting the former administration for nearly two years. Participants, including students, parents, and elderly residents, worked to remove debris and metal fencing that had restricted access to the park.
Observers noted the event as a communal response to the political shift, with participants expressing a sense of reclaiming public spaces. The cleanup follows a period of intense election monitoring and counting processes aimed at ensuring legal compliance at polling stations.
