Belgrade cultural heritage, legends, and musical history

Belgrade is characterized by a rich tapestry of historical landmarks, urban legends, and cultural milestones. In the Skadarlija district, the legendary tavern ‘Ima dana’ stands as a testament to the area's heritage. The courtyard of Skadarska 38 holds significance as the site where a portion of the first Serbian feature film, ‘Karađorđe’, was filmed in 1910. This area historically served as an artistic hub for prominent writers and actors.

The city's underground and ancient history also fuel local folklore. Mysteries surround the Kalemegdan fortress, including unmapped tunnels and the potential existence of the lost Roman settlement, Singidunum, beneath the modern city center. Additionally, locations like the Roman Well and Nebojša Tower are central to local legends regarding the city's turbulent past.
