Belgrade farmers report loss of promised agricultural subsidies
Farmers in the Belgrade region report that the City of Belgrade Secretariat for Agriculture has informed them that planned subsidies for the purchase of tractors, implements, and livestock will not be paid out this year.
According to local producers, the issue arose after the final ranking lists of beneficiaries were published on October 16. Many farmers had already purchased machinery and paid suppliers in full, expecting a refund of up to 80 percent of the investment value, as stipulated by the city's public call.
One farmer from Sopot stated that suppliers are refusing to refund the money for already delivered equipment. While 533 million dinars were originally allocated for these subsidies in the financial plan, producers claim they were not warned of potential funding suspensions before making their investments.
