Ryanair cuts service at Berlin BER; Air Serbia expands in Niš
Major shifts are occurring in European aviation as winter flight schedules take effect. At Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER), Ryanair is significantly reducing its presence, cutting twelve connections. Six destinations—Palermo, Marseille, Trieste, Reggio Calabria, Tallinn, and Pisa—will no longer have direct service from BER. Other routes, including Gran Canaria and Thessaloniki, will be serviced by competing airlines such as EasyJet and Eurowings. Ryanair cited high location fees in Germany as a primary reason for the reduction, which airport officials warn could lead to a decline in passenger numbers.
In contrast, Air Serbia is expanding its regional network by launching new direct flights from Niš, Serbia, to Vienna and Malta. These routes, operating twice weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays, aim to enhance connectivity for southern Serbia and support both tourism and business travel.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, several airports are transitioning to winter schedules. Sarajevo International Airport is introducing new Wizz Air routes to Bratislava, Berlin, and Prague, serving a total of 18 destinations. Tuzla International Airport is also entering its winter season with increased capacity due to Wizz Air's expanded operations, while Mostar Airport continues to maintain seasonal connections to cities like Zagreb, Belgrade, and Stuttgart.
