Belgrade Masterclass advances endocrinology education in Southeast Europe

The eighth Belgrade Masterclass in Clinical Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism recently concluded, serving as a significant educational forum for medical professionals in Southeast Europe. Professor Dr. Đuro Macut described the event as a premier postgraduate program designed to enhance the expertise of both mid-career and younger endocrinologists.

The program utilized a structured format consisting of plenary lectures, expert panel discussions, and practical workshops featuring patient case studies. This approach allows participants to deepen their professional practice and stay updated on the latest medical advancements.

This year's event gathered over 160 endocrinologists, with attendees traveling from Serbia, Greece, Poland, Egypt, and various neighboring countries. A key focus of the current session was the application of clinical genetics in endocrinology, highlighting how genetic tools can assist in developing better therapies and identifying at-risk family members. Other discussion topics included the relationship between endocrinology and sports, as well as insulin resistance.
