Serbian police Intervent Unit officials arrested over Steak and Wine Bar shooting cover‑up

Police officers from Belgrade’s Interventna jedinica 92 were arrested on suspicion of trading influence and obstructing justice after a gunfight at the Steak and Wine Bar on 5 November 2025. Commander Dušan Ninković, deputy commander Jugoslav Stanković, team leaders Nenad Stanojković and Nikola Katić, and restaurant director Darko Živkoski were detained for allegedly concealing the incident, failing to secure the scene, and not reporting the use of firearms.

According to the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office, the officers allegedly instructed subordinates not to inform investigative teams, downplayed the event as a simple brawl, and misled the police station chief. The suspects have been placed in pre‑trial detention or house arrest, pending further investigation.

The probe also links the case to the murder of Aleksandar Nešović, whose disappearance in May 2025 sparked a wider crackdown that saw additional police officers and restaurant staff charged with covering up crimes and facilitating illegal weapon use.
