Belgrade Waterfront project threatens homes in Terazijska Terasa

Residents of Terazijska Terasa in Belgrade are warning that their homes are at risk of demolition due to a new restaurant project within the ‘Belgrade Waterfront’ development. The proposed facility, which exceeds 1,000 square meters, was reportedly included in the urban plan without public debate or approval from the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of the City of Belgrade.

Ivan Šćekić of the Terazijska Terasa Residents' Association stated that the planning documentation intends to remove buildings inhabited by approximately 200 families to create new views toward the Sava River. Residents argue that the project ignores the interests of the public and experts, noting that the river is not even visible from their current location.
