Beli Manastir commemorates 35th anniversary of 135th Baranja Brigade
Beli Manastir will host a series of commemorative events on October 31, 2026, to mark the 35th anniversary of the founding of the 135th Baranja Brigade of the Croatian Army. Organized by the Association of the 135th Baranja Brigade, the program is held under the theme “With pride and gratitude.”
The anniversary honors the brigade's role during the Croatian War of Independence, which began in 1991. The scheduled program includes an early morning vigil, a Holy Mass at St. Martin's Church, and a procession toward Freedom Square. During the procession, candles will be lit at the Defenders' Monument to honor those who participated in the defense of Croatia.
Central activities will include a formal assembly at Freedom Square, a ceremonial lunch, and a tactical-technical meeting. The organizers have invited members of the brigade and the community to participate in remembering the unit's wartime journey and its contributions to the country.
