Belinda Bencic ends tennis season due to foot injury

Swiss tennis player Belinda Bencic has announced the premature end of her season following a right foot injury. The 29-year-old Olympic champion revealed via social media that an MRI confirmed multiple partial tears of the tibiofibular ligament.

Bencic expressed significant frustration and disappointment, noting that the injury forced her withdrawal from the Pacific Open in Tokyo, a tournament she holds in high regard. The injury also prevents her from competing in upcoming events in Hong Kong and the Billie Jean King Cup play-offs in Thailand scheduled for late November.

While the pain became intense recently, Bencic noted that she did not experience issues during her last tournament in Ningbo, where she was eliminated in the second round. She stated her intention to return to competition next year to make up for lost time.
