Belinda Bencic withdraws from Billie Jean King Cup playoff in Thailand

Swiss tennis star Belinda Bencic has withdrawn from the 2026 Billie Jean King Cup by Genbridge World Group Playoff against Thailand due to injury. Bencic, currently ranked 19th in the world, is reportedly dealing with ongoing issues following a right ankle injury that previously forced her to withdraw from the Tokyo WTA 500 tournament.

Despite Bencic's absence, the Swiss team will be represented by Viktoria Golubic, Simona Waltert, Susan Bandecchi, and Jill Teichmann, with Naima Karamoako joining the roster. The Thai national team, led by Lalana Tharauridee and Mananchaya Sawangkaew, remains prepared for the competition scheduled for November 21 to 22, 2026, at the National Tennis Development Center in Nonthaburi.
