Belize and Taiwan sign $3 million deal for entrepreneurs

The Government of Belize and Taiwan have signed a three-million-U.S.-dollar agreement to launch the Belize Women and Youth MSMEs Development Project. The initiative is designed to support women and young entrepreneurs by providing vocational training, business guidance, and entrepreneurship skills.

The project aims to help small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) survive, grow, and reach new markets, specifically targeting sectors such as tourism, indigenous handicrafts, and the building industries. By equipping participants with vital skills, the program seeks to create jobs and strengthen local communities.

Belizean Minister of Foreign Affairs Francis Fonseca noted that supporting women entrepreneurs is a direct investment in the next generation, as women often stabilize household finances and reinvest in their communities. The project will be implemented through cooperation between Belizean ministries and Taiwanese technical expertise.
