Belize City National Fire Service Nears Permanent Headquarters Site

More than five years after the National Fire Service of Belize City lost its former headquarters on Cleghorn Street, the government is moving closer to building a permanent compound. Minister of Public Service and Disaster Risk Management Henry Charles Usher said land has been identified near the Eleanor Hall building where a purpose‑built facility will bring together the service’s administrative offices, training yard, mechanical workshop and operational resources.

The former headquarters was sold to Atlantic Bank for about $2.8 million in 2020, leaving firefighters scattered across temporary sites such as the Marion Jones Stadium, a rented space on Calle Al Mar Street and a mechanical yard in Ladyville. Funding for the new headquarters is still being secured, but the plan aims to consolidate all functions under one roof once construction begins.
