Belize launches reports on climate vulnerability and political financing

The Government of Belize, together with UNICEF Belize, unveiled the Climate Landscape Analysis for Children Plus (CLAC+) report on 17 July. The study evaluates how climate change, environmental hazards and disasters affect children, persons with disabilities, Indigenous peoples and pregnant women, and offers evidence‑based recommendations for health, education, social protection, disaster risk management and sustainable development.

On 28 July, the Belize Policy Research Institute at the University of Belize will present its report “Money in Belizean Politics: Breaking the Regulation Deadlock.” The paper examines the influence of money in Belizean politics, highlights the country’s lack of comprehensive political‑finance legislation and proposes policy reforms. Ivorine Bulwer of BELPRI noted the need to consider citizens’ basic needs and accountability when addressing political financing.
