Belize National EdTech Summit Attracts Over 1,200 Educators

Belize’s second National EdTech Summit was held over two days at the Belize City Civic Center, drawing more than 1,200 teachers and school leaders. Day one saw over 500 teachers attend sessions on artificial intelligence and classroom technology, while day two focused on principals and administrators discussing digital transformation, leadership, and policy implementation.

Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Technology Francis Fonseca emphasized the need for comprehensive dialogue on the intersection of education and technology, noting that AI tools can help reduce workloads and improve teaching effectiveness. Participants highlighted the “teaching hacks” theme, which frames technology use as practical tips to save time, space, imagination, and curriculum resources. Speakers such as Assistant Dean Jeanne Link and Principal Ray Lawrence stressed the importance of professional development so educators can effectively leverage new tools.
