Belize Social Security Board Awards 85 Scholarships
The Social Security Board (SSB) of Belize held its 2026 Scholarship Award Ceremony, marking the 25th anniversary of the programme. Eighty‑five students received financial support: 64 associate‑level scholarships and 21 high‑school scholarships.
Applicants had to be born Belizeans, demonstrate financial need, maintain at least a B+ average and be able to complete their studies. High‑school recipients receive BZD 1,200 each, while associate‑level students get BZD 1,000 per semester. SSB launched the scholarship scheme in 2001 and has since helped hundreds of Belizean youths pursue further education.
Public Relations Manager Vanessa Vellos said the awards invest in the future workforce, noting that past recipients have become teachers, media professionals and consultants. The ceremony brought together students, parents, educators and SSB officials to celebrate academic achievement and the board’s long‑term commitment to education.
