Belize travel destinations and cultural festivals
Belize offers a diverse range of travel experiences, from the ancient Maya ruins and jungle lodges of the Cayo District to the coastal attractions of the northern cayes. The Placencia Peninsula, located on the southern coast, is a notable destination featuring a sixteen-mile stretch between the Caribbean Sea and the Placencia Lagoon. The settlement at the tip of the peninsula is known for its single-street layout, which holds a Guinness World Record for being the world’s narrowest main street.
The country also hosts various seasonal cultural events and festivals. Notable celebrations include the Krem New Year’s Cycling Classic in January, Carnaval in San Pedro on Ambergris Caye during February, and the LaRuta Maya Belize River Challenge in March, a multi-day canoe race that travels down the Belize River toward Belize City.
