Belize Youth Complete Stained‑Glass Summer Camp

The Department of Youth Services in Belize City concluded a multi‑day stained‑glass workshop that gave more than a dozen young participants hands‑on training in design, cutting, grinding, foiling, soldering and assembly. The camp, led by engineer and stained‑glass artist Jokeeta Savariau, built on previous programs in Punta Gorda and aimed to introduce a creative trade that could become a career or business opportunity.

Certificates were awarded to the students, who displayed the colourful pieces they created, many of which incorporated Belize’s national symbols. Participants such as Kayanna Graray said the experience boosted their confidence and sparked lasting interest in the craft.

The program is part of a broader summer initiative by the Department of Youth Services that offers a range of hands‑on skill‑building activities for Belizean youth across the country.
