Actress Bella Thorne said a hacker threatened her in 2019 with private nude images and demanding money. To pre‑empt the blackmail, she posted the photos herself, which sparked a wave of victim‑blaming accusations that she described as “really, really broke me.”

Thorne later disclosed that the FBI became involved, visiting her home and using the screenshots she provided to identify the suspect by matching his writing style. She said the early release of the images helped investigators build their case.

Discussing the episode on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast, Thorne recalled the threatening texts, the emotional toll of feeling her power taken, and the backlash she faced after the self‑leak.
