Bellflower gas station clerk and nine others arrested for illegal nitrous oxide sales
Ten people were arrested in Bellflower, California, following an enforcement operation involving the illegal sale and possession of nitrous oxide. The incident occurred late on a Saturday night when the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Street Takeover Task Force responded to reports of a potential illegal street takeover near McNab and Rosecrans avenues.
Upon arrival, detectives found no street takeover in progress but discovered a large gathering at a gas station parking lot. Authorities observed individuals consuming alcohol and inhaling nitrous oxide, and witnessed a store clerk actively selling the substance to customers. Investigators recovered dozens of discarded nitrous oxide tanks and balloons from the scene.
Nine individuals were arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession, while the gas station clerk was taken into custody for the illegal sale of the substance. Sheriff’s officials noted that nitrous oxide use is increasingly linked to illegal street takeovers and sideshows, posing significant public safety risks.
