Bellflower market owner reports $30,000 in damage from burglary during street takeover

A family-run business, A-Z Market in Bellflower, California, was ransacked by a group of masked individuals during a large-scale street takeover on a Saturday morning. The incident occurred near the intersection of Bellflower Boulevard and Somerset Boulevard, where authorities reported more than 100 vehicles were involved in the takeover.

Surveillance footage shows suspects using power tools to attempt to cut through locks and eventually smashing a window to gain entry. Once inside, between 30 and 40 suspects reportedly destroyed counters, damaged a lottery machine and refrigerator doors, and stole merchandise. Co-owner Steven Abdullatif estimated the physical damage to the store at approximately $30,000, excluding the value of stolen goods.

Law enforcement officials stated that deputies faced difficulties reaching the scene because vehicles involved in the street takeover were blocking the intersection. Although the owners received alarm notifications and contacted 911, the suspects had already fled by the time deputies arrived.
