Bellini International Context celebrates Italian melodic traditions
The Bellini International Context festival is hosting musical performances centered on the melodic traditions of Italian composers. One featured concert, titled ‘Melodia infinita’, will take place on September 24, 2026, at Cortile Platamone. The program features soprano Juliette Di Bello and pianist Francesco Nicolosi, focusing on the expansive melodic style of Vincenzo Bellini through works such as ‘Norma’, ‘Il pirata’, and ‘La Straniera’. The performance also includes piano transcriptions by Beethoven and Sigismund Thalberg, as well as works by Chopin, Liszt, and Castelnuovo-Tedesco.
Other scheduled musical explorations include works by Puccini, Rossini, Gershwin, and Tosti. These performances aim to create an emotional journey through various lyrical and operatic micro-stories, spanning from the Neapolitan school to 20th-century reinterpretations of traditional songs.
