Bellini International Context to host operatic performance in Catania
The sixth edition of the Bellini International Context will feature the musical performance “La follia romantica e le parafrasi” (Romantic Madness and Paraphrases) on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. Held at the Cortile Platamone in Catania, the event is free to the public.
The concert focuses on the theme of romantic madness in 19th-century melodrama, exploring the psychological dissociation and internal conflict often associated with female figures in opera. The program includes works by Vincenzo Bellini, Gaetano Donizetti, Alfredo Piatti, Joachim Andersen, and Bottesi.
Sopranos Claudia Ceraulo and Rocío Faus will lead the performance, accompanied by an ensemble including Ruben Micieli on piano, Salvatore Vella on flute, Andrea Waccher on cello, and Nicola Malagugini on double bass. The event is part of a larger cultural initiative involving over 1,500 artists, with additional programming scheduled in Palermo, Messina, and Agrigento.
