Bellreguard hosts final school cycling tournament amid participation decline

The Club Ciclista Bellreguard is hosting the final school category regularity tournament in Bellreguard, Valencia, marking the end of a seven-month competitive season. The event also serves to commemorate the centenary of the club's foundation.

Despite the club's long history, organizers noted a concerning decline in participation within the school category. This year's event features 114 young cyclists, a significant drop from previous years when approximately 250 children regularly participated. Local cycling sectors have expressed concern regarding this trend, attributing the decline to a migration of youth toward other sporting disciplines and calling for structural initiatives to support young athletes.
